About this experience
Qatar is often compared to the United Arab Emirates - while their history may be similar, their atmosphere and cities are noticeably different. I have been living here for over 20 years and have seen how everything has changed: I will gladly tell you about this, about the character of Qataris, about local customs. The route is rich: the Qatari cultural village, the Pearl Island with a little Venice, the Souq Waqif market, and the newest district of Msheireb.
What to Expect
Qatar Yesterday and Today
How did the tiny town of Doha turn into the metropolis you see on the coast of the Persian Gulf? We will talk about Qatar's oil boom and the arrangement of this state. As a witness to these changes, I will tell you how the life of native Qataris, expatriates, and the Russian community has changed since the beginning of the 21st century. I will share observations about the character and lifestyle of the locals.
Doha by Car and on Foot
Despite the dynamic development and movement into the future, Doha is peaceful, people do not rush - we will follow their example, calmly enjoy the views, and explore the sights:
- Katara - Cultural Village. This is the best place to get acquainted with the country's heritage. You will see the modern marble amphitheater, the Blue and Gold mosques, the beach and hotels opened for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as well as try the national Karak tea.
- The artificial Pearl Island with 13 bridges, 13 canals, and colorful houses - it is a little Venice in Qatar. Here we will stroll through Porto Arabia, look at the numerous yachts, and talk about the island's features.
- Arabian Souq Waqif: you will travel to the old part of Doha and immerse yourself in a kaleidoscope of colors, patterns, and scents. You will have time to choose spices, sweets, and souvenirs, while I will tell you about the market's name and help you not get lost.
- Msheireb District - a city within a city, self-sufficient. Four historical buildings have been restored here, which you will see: among them, the first office of the Qatar Petroleum Company. Examine photos of old Doha and walk along the magnificent promenade.
