About this experience
For many tourists visiting Vietnam for the first time, their knowledge of the country is limited to fragments from American movies about the Vietnam War. On this tour, you will visit real battle sites, learn how and under what conditions everything actually happened, and imagine yourself as a true warrior.
One of the colorful pages in the history of the Vietnam-American War is the struggle of partisans in the underground tunnels of Cu Chi village, 70 km from the center of Saigon. I personally know some soldiers who fought in these tunnels, their children born in the tunnels during the war (these children are now over 50 years old).
Program
During this tour, I will tell you about the ways the tunnels were dug, the tools used, how the Americans unsuccessfully tried to destroy the partisans using poisonous gases, pumping huge amounts of water from the Saigon River, and with tunnel rats.
You will try a modest partisan ration, wear partisan sandals, shoot at targets in the shooting range with the types of weapons used during this terrible war, and understand how difficult it is to crawl through tunnels the size of a fox hole.
You will have the rare opportunity to see this war through the eyes of its participants from both sides, as during the tour I will quote excerpts from the memoirs of American and Vietnamese soldiers who fought in these places.
