About this experience
This tour is perfect for travelers who want to get a general overview of the city and its history before exploring it on their own. You will see old buildings and modern skyscrapers, visit a Chinese family temple, explore a colorful market, and take photos near a lotus-shaped fountain. After the walk, you will feel at home in Ho Chi Minh City!
What to Expect
We will walk through the main streets and visit the most iconic landmarks of Ho Chi Minh City, a city once known as the 'Paris of the Orient' during French colonial times. You will learn about the traditional way of life of Saigon residents: see where they live, how they commute, what they eat and drink, where they pray, where they exercise in the parks, where and how they shop, and the art of bargaining in traditional markets. The program includes:
- You will witness the heritage of French colonial architecture, such as the City Hall building, the theater, the Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Office, and early 20th-century hotels.
- You will pass by modern skyscrapers, admire the Saigon River waterfront, and see the new districts on the opposite bank.
- You will take photos near the Ho Chi Minh monument and the lotus fountain.
- You will explore a unique house where all apartments have been turned into cafes and restaurants.
- You will visit a Chinese family temple (owned by the same Chinese clan for over 200 years), explore the Ben Thanh market, and admire the architecture of an ancient French shophouse.
- You will find a Muslim mosque in a secluded corner of the city center, see the oldest educational institution in French Indochina, and visit the city's oldest and most beautiful park.
