About this experience
In the small city of Florence, the concentration of significant art objects is incredible. It is not surprising, as the Italian Renaissance was born here. You will learn how it happened and what conditions led to this event. Admire the grand palaces and basilicas, discover the architectural features of the era. And the names of Michelangelo, Donatello, Giotto, Leonardo, and other titans of art will resonate in my story more than once.
What to expect
Understand the Renaissance era
Florence firmly established itself in world history as the 'cradle of the Renaissance'. During the tour, I will explain why here, in the capital of Tuscany, the Italian Renaissance was born. You will learn about the historical and economic conditions of the period of great art, the spread of the Renaissance throughout Europe, and its influence on European and Russian culture. And of course, we will talk about the legendary Medici family - the patrons who in Florence are called the 'godfathers of the Renaissance era'.
Masterpieces of Florentine architecture
You will admire the main landmarks of Florence: the town hall building Palazzo Vecchio and the Loggia dei Lanzi in the Piazza della Signoria, the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, reminiscent of a luxurious casket, Giotto's bell tower, the Medici palaces, as well as bridges and buildings of medieval markets and churches. I will talk about the construction techniques and tools that existed before the Renaissance. And about how Filippo Brunelleschi changed the course of architectural history and what technologies he developed for building the dome of Santa Maria del Fiore. In addition, you will discover interesting details from the lives of Donatello, Leonardo, and Michelangelo, and learn about their relationships.
