About this experience
For over 100 years, Florence was the cultural capital of Europe - and during this time, the city has accumulated many masterpieces that everyone who comes here must see. During the tour, I will help create a comprehensive picture of the city: you will see the Cathedral of Florence, visit the open-air museum, and stroll along the Golden Bridge. You will visit the three main squares of the city and learn the history of each. I will suggest where else you can relax in Florence and help you stock up on wonderful experiences.
What to Expect
Three city centers
Florentines believe they have three city centers. The first is Piazza Duomo, the religious center of the city - it amazes with its scale and elegance. Here you will find The Bell Tower, The Baptistery, and of course, the famous cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore - I will tell you about the difficulties the creator of its dome, the genius Filippo Brunelleschi, faced. On Piazza Signoria, which is the political center of the city, the 13th-century Old Palace now houses the mayor's office. Here you will see an open-air museum: a collection of sculptures in Loggia dei Lanzi, among which are Cellini's "Perseus with the Head of Medusa", Giambologna's "Rape of the Sabine Women", and the epitome of male beauty - Michelangelo's "David". And the third center we will visit is Piazza della Repubblica, once the Forum, now surrounded by modern buildings and historic cafes.
Medici Palaces and Kabanchik
Turning towards the New Market, we will find ourselves near "Porcellino" - a fountain with the figure of a little pig - and you can make a wish, toss a coin, and rub its snout. You will walk through the quarter of Dante Alighieri, admire the banks of the Arno, see the Old (Golden) Bridge, and hear the story of this unique structure. Make sure to look at the buildings related to the Medici dynasty - the Palaces, the Cemetery, and the family church of San Lorenzo, and I will tell you the history of this family of patrons.
Not just history
During the tour, we will talk not only about Florence's past but also about its modern life, its traditions, and, of course, the local cuisine. You will learn how Florentines live, how they park and collect garbage, where they relax, what they eat, and drink. I, as a local Italian, will tell you about the nuances of the recipe for Tuscan wine "Chianti", the details of preparing and serving bisteche fiorentina. And you will forever remember our city as vibrant, extraordinarily beautiful, and imagination-stirring!
