The 'City of Contrasts' is not just a line from guidebooks, but the true essence of Bangkok. It combines ancient palaces of the royal dynasty, modern districts with skyscrapers, and impoverished areas. You will see it all! You will also take a ride on a Thai 'long-tail' boat and visit unusual temples where turtles and crocodiles reside. I will tell you about the past and present of this incredible city.
What to Expect
Palaces and Temples of the Old City
You will visit the Grand Royal Palace – the former residence of the Rama dynasty representatives. Admire the Buddhist sanctuaries, magnificent pagodas, and the royal library. You will also explore the famous Temple of the Emerald Buddha and learn who has the right to enter it through the grand doors. Additionally, I will show you the stupa inside the Turtle Temple. And the temple where crocodiles live, cared for by monks.
Modern Megapolis
You will appreciate Mahanakhon – Thailand's tallest building with a huge transparent floor. Optionally, you can ascend its tower and enjoy the magnificent view of Bangkok. Then take a walk through the Thai Wall Street: see skyscrapers, cafes with unique designs, the elevated metro, and an unexpected 19th-century mansion in this modern district.
Boat Ride through Canals and the Thai Ghetto
You will enjoy an hour-long private boat ride on an authentic Thai 'long-tail' boat. You will see the Thai ghetto from the water – the poorest district of Thonburi city. Observe the local traditional life and discover Bangkok from a new perspective. I will explain how different social classes coexist in one city.
Organizational Details
- The tour takes place in a comfortable Toyota Altis sedan. A child seat and booster are available upon request. Transportation is included in the price.
- At the Royal Palace, a licensed Thai-speaking Russian guide will conduct the tour. The surcharge for this is 500 baht per group.
- Other additional expenses: palace tickets – 500 baht per person (+ guide's ticket), canal ride – 1500 baht per boat, Mahanakhon – 880 baht per person, discounts available for children and seniors
