I will tell you about the history and culture of Thailand, we will talk about traditional religions and beliefs in sacred places - Buddhism, Taoism and Hinduism, and near the altar of Nang Mai (forest nymphs) we will touch on the topic of animism. In addition, you will ride a real som lo - a classic Thai tuk-tuk - and visit the ancient flower market.
What to expect
Temples of Bangkok
The tour will start with the temple Wat Yannawa, the water gates of Bangkok, where the river customs used to be located, and now - a royal third-class temple with a central Buddhist television set and a Thai massage institute. Also included in the program is the new temple Wat Kalayanamit, where you will see a large statue of a sitting Buddha. In the Chinese temple Kuan An Keng Shrine, I will tell you about the cult of the goddess Guan Yin and the construction during the reign of Rama III. Here you will appreciate the ancient wooden frescoes and wall paintings. And you will also visit Wat Chakrawate - a temple with crocodiles.
City Contrasts from Water and Buddhist Lucky Ceremony
On a tourist boat on the Chao Phraya River, you will reach a colorful flower market. Walk through the market stalls and cross to the west bank in Thonburi. At Wat Prayunee you will hear legends about turtles and their symbolism for Thai believers. You will see the museum of Buddhist relics and will be able to participate in a wish-fulfillment ceremony inside the stupa, where we will delve into the details of traditional rituals. And then you will embark on a journey on a rented boat along the Thonburi canals, where all the contrasts of Bangkok will unfold before you with giant monitor lizards, floating boat shops, rich and poor houses of local residents.
Indian and Chinese Quarters, Tuk-Tuk Ride and Sunset on the Hill
Near Rama I Bridge, in a large square, we will talk about the founder of the royal dynasty and his role in Thailand's history. In the Indian Quarter you will visit the colorful market "Little India Bangkok" with sweets, spices and souvenirs. Here you can take a break for lunch in an authentic establishment. And then you will head to the world's largest Chinatown, where you will immerse yourself in the abundance of teas, spices, sauces and a huge number of markets. On a tuk-tuk "som lo" you will arrive at Prison Park, where I will show you the famous Michelin-starred food cart and lead you through the crafts street, where pots for monk's donations and wooden souvenirs are made.
