What to expect
Stories behind the fortress walls
You will walk along the winding streets of Icheri Sheher, which means 'inner city.' Feel its magical evening atmosphere and see the main attractions: Double Gate Square, 14-15th-century caravanserais, ancient hammams. Learn interesting facts about the Muhammad Mosque and the legends of the Maiden Tower.
Baku at the crossroads of eras
During the walk, you will understand how Eastern and Western cultures have manifested themselves in the history, culture, and architecture of the city. I will tell you how the old city looked before the 19th century and how its appearance changed after the arrival of Tsarist Russia. And to turn factual stories into real stories of people and destinies, I will show you old photographs.
A new pearl of the Caspian Sea
You will immerse yourself in the era of the oil boom: pass by the homes of oil tycoons and hear real-life stories from homeowners. Of course, you will see the iconic corners of this part of the city: take a walk in the Governor's Garden, admire the intricate facades of the Mirbabayev Palace and the Ismailiyya building, look at the city duma, the former women's school, and the casino building.
