About this experience
Baku, like any self-respecting city, shows itself in a special light in the evening illumination. I invite you to take a walk through the city center and a million stories! You will enjoy the panorama standing at the foot of the elegant Flame Towers, find the Baku Venice, walk in historical parks, discover the legends of the Maiden Tower and the fairy tales of Azerbaijan. And most importantly - you will hear the brightest stories about the city and its inhabitants, feel the atmosphere and understand the mentality of our people.
What to Expect
Sunset by the Flame Towers
At the foot of the Flame Towers - a modern symbol of the city - you will learn how they are related to the history of the founding of Baku. We will also talk about the connection of the Funicular, the Baku Venice, and the monument to a real Eastern hero, as well as the difference between Sunni and Shia mosques. Then we will walk through the English Park, where I will tell you about events of the royal and Soviet times, and go out to the viewing platform of Nagorny Park. Admiring the city from above, you will see the Baku Bay and many interesting buildings that will share their curious and funny stories with you.
Iconic Places in the City Center
On the walk, you will encounter both historical and modern corners of Baku. Passing by two Soviet houses will lead you to the early 20th-century Philharmonic building and the oldest Governor's garden, where classical music is always heard. Walking along the fortress wall of the Old City, you will learn how it differs from the old cities of Paris, Rome, and Istanbul. The boulevard on the embankment will amaze you with a singing fountain, and the extraordinary Baku Venice - with the eclectic architecture. You will definitely see the Maiden Tower and choose which of its five legends you prefer. You will also visit the heart of the city at Fountains Square and walk along Trade Street.
Such Different Baku Stories
Throughout the walk, I will share with you a variety of amusing, unusual, curious, and romantic stories and cases! You will see a monument to the first Azerbaijani feminist, learn who and how changed the centuries-old traditions of a whole nation for the sake of a beloved foreign wife, and hear an ancient love legend. At the end of the tour, at your request, I can take you to an excellent traditional tea house with homemade jam, national sweets, and aromatic tea in armudu cups. Or to a new elite district, which has been called the Baku Manhattan due to numerous clubs, restaurants, and bars.
