About this experience
Chicli is a wonderful town at the intersection of three valleys with rocky slopes. You will admire its incredible landscapes, visit ancient churches and palaces, and learn about local gastronomic specialties. You will also hear about how and when Chicli was destroyed and rebuilt in the Sicilian Baroque style.
What to expect
Chicli - history and legends
Our walk will start on one of the most beautiful streets in Sicily, named after a local baron. I will tell you why the municipality of Chicli turned into a police station during the filming of a movie, why commoners were forbidden to enter the Church of St. John the Evangelist, and where the painting of a Spanish artist is located, showing Jesus dressed in a skirt. Additionally, you will learn about the phenomenon of Sicilian Baroque and discover which world-famous artists lived and worked in Chicli.
Peasant's dwelling or aristocrat's palace
In the second part of the tour, I will offer two options to choose from. Nature lovers can ascend a picturesque hill, enjoy breathtaking views of the city, and explore a cave where an ordinary peasant family lived. The second option will appeal to connoisseurs of ancient architecture and the world of aristocracy: you will visit palaces from the XVIII-XX centuries, peek into a costume museum, and learn about the lives of noble families of that time.
