You will spend this day in the best Italian traditions - enjoying cheeses, wine, and nature.
What to expect
- San Gimignano is located on a picturesque hill, and its towers offer stunning views of the green expanses of central Tuscany. Here, I will tell you why about a hundred tall towers were built here in the Middle Ages, who were their owners, and why the city attracted UNESCO's attention. Here you will try the best ice cream in the world (yes! this is confirmed by certificates!) with very unusual flavors.
- In Tuscany, cheese is predominantly made from sheep's milk. You will visit the favorite and frequently visited by a good part of the local population organic cheese dairy. It is located within the city limits, on the way to San Gimignano. You will see how delicious pecorino, marzolano, ricotta, and other Tuscan cheeses are prepared. And at the tasting, you will try from 5 to 7 or more types of cheeses with jams or honey.
- And finally, you will stop by a cozy place with a view to have a glass of wine, talk about the culinary customs and traditions of the Tuscans. At the tasting, you can try several types of Chianti (strong and tangy red wine) and Vernaccia (dry and invigorating white wine) with typical Tuscan snacks prosciutto, pecorino, and bruschetta. Organizational details
We meet at Certaldo station, which is a 50-minute train ride from Florence. Visits to farms and estates with tastings cost 10-20 euros per person, depending on what and how much you want to taste, and are paid separately.
