About this experience
We have designed this route to save you from having to carve out a moment for photos, stand in line for Amsterdam delicacies, and unsuccessfully search for a table in a cafe. You will touch the authentic antiquity, uncover the secrets hidden on the shores of the canals, and visit the most atmospheric places in the capital.
What to Expect
Discover Amsterdam and lose your head like Peter I
On a stroll along Grachtengordel, you will see the famous network of large and small water arteries (Beer Canal, Nieuwe Spiegelgracht, and others), thanks to which the city is called North Venice. While exploring the old houses of the 17th century, Rode Hoed and Bartolotti, as well as the palaces of wealthy merchants, admirals, bankers, and slave traders, including the building Felix Meritis, you will hear mysterious stories about the people who not only made history of the country but also - without exaggeration - of the world as a whole. Moreover, we will show you warehouses with colorful ornate shutters, the Skinny Bridge - Magere Brug, which flashed in the saga of James Bond, secret chapels, and the most beautiful Protestant cathedral in the city. There will be stories from the life of the picturesque Heerestraat street, the charming area of '9 Streets', and the infamous Anne Frank House.
Immerse yourself in the atmosphere
You will overhear the gossip of the inhabitants of Golden Bend, learn where the leading philosophers of the planet used to meet and what they preferred to drink, eat, and smoke. You will learn how to determine the age of a house by its facade and skillfully park bicycles. Visit Leidseplein Square with one of the most famous coffee shops. Drop into shops and courtyards with all sorts of things - designer, bookish, with exquisite cheeses from around the world or cigars, royal hats or musical instruments. And also peek into the windows (here you can and should!), to examine stunning stuccowork, painted ceilings, antique mirrors in gilded frames, and modern art objects. And, of course, enjoy coffee or wine, sitting at a table among climbing roses and tall stoops on the canal bank, to feel happy like an Amsterdammer!
