About this experience
I invite you to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of Amsterdam and truly understand the character of the city by strolling along the Grand Canals: Herengracht, Prinsengracht, and Keizersgracht. You will learn about houseboats, discover a medieval prison, and observe the daily life of locals.
What to Expect
Our journey will start at the main square of the city - Dam Square. I will tell you about all the landmarks of this square, how the city hall turned into a royal palace, where the world's first stock exchange was located, why the tower of the New Church wasn't completed, and much more.
We will explore the St. Lucy Monastery, the courtyard of Beguines (nuns who could marry and leave the convent), and walk along the canals. We will see where the first dam protecting the city from floods was located. We will visit the quiet, cozy courtyards of the Jordaan district, hidden from prying eyes. I will show you the favorite streets of the locals, where not only the best shops are located but also the best pubs.
I will tell you about houseboats and you can appreciate how tastefully the Dutch decorate them. I will show you the unusual location of a medieval prison. We will walk through small, picturesque streets nestled between the canals. You will see Amsterdam as the locals see and love it.
