About this experience
This family trip will appeal to both young and adult guests of Cyprus. In the camel park, you will meet charismatic animals, be able to ride them, and swim in the pool. Then visit the Hala Sultan Tekke Mosque on the shore of the unique salt lake and discover a 6th-century mosaic in the village of Kiti.
What to expect
For kids: camels, donkeys, and ponies
First, we will visit the only camel park in Cyprus. Here, kids can get up close with the 'Ships of the Desert,' treat them to a snack, and even ride them. Then they will interact with other park animals: Cypriot donkeys, deer, and ponies. If desired, they can also swim in the pool or find other entertaining activities in the park!
For adults: lakes, mosque, and mosaic
We will then head to other notable spots on the island. The program includes:
- Salt lakes - a natural attraction of Cyprus. In the cold season, they fill with water, while in summer they turn into a salt desert. You will learn how salt was extracted here during the Ottoman era and, if you're lucky, see delicate flamingos.
- Hala Sultan Tekke Mosque - the fourth most important shrine for Muslims after Mecca, Medina, and the mosque in Jerusalem. Here, you will see the sarcophagus of Prophet Muhammad's aunt, Umm Haram. From a distance, you can admire the reflection of the mosque in the water of the salt lake.
- 6th-century mosaic - you will examine it at the Church of Panagia Angeloktisti, which encompasses both Catholic and Orthodox boundaries.
