About this experience
In one day, you will discover that besides the sea and the beach in Cyprus, there are other remarkable corners that will appeal to both adults and children. We will visit a farm with charming donkeys, explore an ethnographic museum, talk about Cypriot traditions, and see the abandoned town of Varosha. In the pottery workshop, kids will be able to make a small souvenir with their own hands.
What to Expect
Children's Highlights: Donkeys, Clay, and Museum
- Donkey Farm - the main goal of our adventure. Children can feed and pet the animals, ride a donkey, and meet other farm residents: ponies, Shami goats, Vietnamese pigs, and spotted deer.
- Ethnographic Museum, where each room is a workshop dedicated to one of the crafts of Cyprus. Children will learn about the former life and customs of the Cypriots, see items used by cobblers and tailors, blacksmiths and fishermen, weavers, bakers, and winemakers.
- Pottery Workshop: here, young participants will hear about Pythagoras' magic bowl, watch the master at work, and be able to sculpt something themselves from pottery clay.
Adults' Highlights: Ghost Town, Frescoes, and Monastery
- Ghost Town of Varosha. From the viewing platform, you will see the panorama of this place: the buffer zone, checkpoints of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, abandoned luxury hotels. And I will tell you about the tragic events that led to the division of the island.
- Monastery of St. Kendea, where you can light a candle for the health of your loved ones, wash with holy water, and see preserved frescoes in a traditional Byzantine church from the 15th century.
