About this experience
Imagine that you have arrived in Cairo - and here you have a friend who will take you to the brightest corners of the city, reveal the stories and secrets of each location, show colorful markets and cafes, take atmospheric photos from unconventional angles. In one day, I will try to make you fall in love with Cairo and help you see the city as I see it: comfortable, multi-layered, and unique.
What to expect
Cairo with a local and without stereotypes
My task is to help you blend into the everyday life of Cairo and dispel stereotypes about the city. In one day, you will become collectors of Cairo gems, learn how to communicate with locals, and how to get around the city. We will not visit tourist shops with oils and papyrus, but we will find truly unique souvenirs. We will talk about the lives of Egyptians and do not forget to visit a cafe with the most delicious Cairo food.
For beginners: city symbols in 1 day
For those visiting the city for the first time, I suggest visiting the top locations:
- Giza Plateau - a must-see not only in Cairo but in all of Egypt. We will explore the Great Pyramids, which have long become part of the world's cultural code, and reveal their secrets.
- Khan el-Khalili Bazaar on Al-Muizz Street: you will be surrounded by the scents of spices, Eastern vibes, and a variety of goods from an ancient bazaar. And we can also have tea at an atmospheric cafe, which has been open since 1773.
For experienced travelers: other route options
If you have already seen all the main attractions, I can arrange a tour according to your wishes. For example, we can visit:
- The Egyptian Museum. Many museums around the world have Egyptian halls, but the most extensive museum about Egypt is this one. Here you will see the Golden Mask of Tutankhamun and thousands of other artifacts.
- Museum of Egyptian Civilization, where the mummies of the main rulers of Ancient Egypt are kept.
- Azhar Park: once a huge dump in the city center, now a location for photo shoots, a corner of nature with plants from around the world, and stunning sunsets.
- Gezira Island, so different from all of Cairo. Here are the embassies of various countries, the Cairo Tower, and the opera. By the way, we can also visit the TV tower and see Cairo from a bird's eye view.
- Baron Empain Palace with atypical architecture for Cairo, a non-trivial history, and a wonderful view of Heliopolis district.
- Coptic Quarter, where you will discover the culture of Christian Cairo.
- City of the Garbage Collectors - an exotic place where Christians live and engage in recycling waste from the entire city.
