About this experience
An art walk is a great alternative to museums. You will stroll through the main squares and hidden alleys of Rome, admire paintings, frescoes, and sculptures by Raphael, Caravaggio, and other artists. Visit the workshops of sculptors from past centuries and a legendary 19th-century cafe. In a relaxed atmosphere, you will learn about the lives of the creators, their techniques, and, of course, the meanings behind their works.
What to Expect
Some stops on the route:
- Santa Maria della Pace Church. Here you will admire Raphael's fresco 'Sibyls and Angels'.
- San Luigi dei Francesi Church. Its gem is the Contarelli Chapel with three Caravaggio paintings: 'The Calling of Saint Matthew', 'The Martyrdom of Saint Matthew', 'Saint Matthew and the Angel'.
- Basilica of Saint Augustine. You will see another Caravaggio painting 'Madonna di Loreto'.
- Cafe Greco, resembling an art gallery - a center of 19th-century cultural life
- Former workshop of 18th-century sculptors
- Works by Raphael, Caravaggio, Guido Reni, Domenichino, Canova, Bernini, and other globally recognized geniuses
- And much more!
Who is it for
If you have limited time and don't want to waste it in lines but rather enjoy the beauty, this is an opportunity to combine immersion in art with an informative walk through the Eternal City. The art route is also ideal for those who have already explored many masterpieces in museums and want to deepen their knowledge of art.
