Ancient Ostia - the 'Second Pompeii'

For seven centuries, Ostia was the only port near Rome located by the sea, at the mouth of the Tiber River. It was the main seaport of the empire's capital: all necessary goods entered Rome through it, and the Roman military fleet was based here. A trip to Ostia will allow you to see the excavated city from the 19th century.

• We will definitely visit the Baths of Neptune with famous mosaics, the 1st-century amphitheater, necropolis, and even the forum with the Capitolium.
• We will see the famous ancient insulae, prototypes of modern apartment buildings.
• We will see evidence that representatives of various religious denominations peacefully coexisted in the Roman Empire, as evidenced by the temples discovered during excavations: several temples dedicated to Roman gods, a synagogue, a Christian basilica, and numerous temples dedicated to the Persian god Mithras.
