About this experience
Join me on a journey through central Georgia! You will see an ancient city carved in the rocks, visit a monastery where martyrs died during the Mongol invasion, and learn about the wishes of childless couples at the Ertsiminda church. Optionally, you can have lunch in the cozy town of Gori, surrounded by mountains on two sides, and taste the wine made by local craftsmen.
What to expect
- Jvari Monastery - one of the oldest churches in Georgia. It is situated on top of a mountain, offering a stunning view of Mtskheta, the Kura, and Aragvi rivers.
- Kvatathevi Monastery - in this church, you will see traces of martyrs who were burned by Tamerlane during the Mongol invasion.
- Ertsiminda Church - you will see a symphony of patterns on the church walls, where childless couples make wishes. I will show you the place where the head of Paata Saakadze, the son of a general, is buried.
- Uplistsikhe - an ancient cave city carved into the rock. You will explore the ancient chambers and learn about the history of this place.
- Gori Town - here we will stop for lunch. Optionally, we will also visit local residents to taste homemade wines.
