I will tell you about the foundation of the 'city of winds' and why, according to legend, it became the capital of Tamerlane's empire. The focus will be on the monuments of the 14-15th centuries, for which people primarily visit here. You will visit Gur-Emir - the mausoleum of the Timurid dynasty, which became a prototype for the Taj Mahal. You will explore the complex of female mausoleums Shahi-Zinda, consisting of over a dozen mausoleums, each a masterpiece of medieval architecture. At the central square of Registan, you will understand the role of three local madrasas in the world of Islamic civilization. You will also visit the Bibi Khanum Mosque, erected after Tamerlane's victorious campaign in India.
