About this experience
Amsterdam is a city of contradictions. For some, it's the best place to live, for others - high taxes, for some it's the capital of freedom and self-expression. I will help you explore different sides of this beautiful city, show its main attractions and hidden gems, and share insights into local traditions and mindset.
What to Expect
Inside Amsterdam
You will see all the city's 'postcards': Rembrandt Square, Red Light District, the flower market, and gingerbread houses. You will walk along picturesque canals, small churches, visit the former butter market now housing offices of world's largest companies. You will also learn what Monet painted in Amsterdam and explore hidden courtyards rarely visited by tourists.
Engaging Friendly Stories
I will tell you about the basis of the local national character, why gingerbread houses 'dance', and how a typical Dutch's life unfolds from birth to retirement. Additionally, you will learn about the locals' constant struggle for survival, their laid-back and practical approach, and what 'Gezellig' means. Finally, you will try local herring and cheeses, getting a taste of a resident's lifestyle.
