About this experience
I will introduce you to the most important locations of the Old City. You will stand under the dome of one of the oldest temples in the world, visit an Ottoman palace, and learn the most interesting facts from the history of the Ottoman capital, its myths, and legends.
What to Expect
The Highlights of Istanbul
I am a licensed accredited guide, so I will take you to the main monuments of Constantinople without queues. We will visit:
- Topkapi Palace, which not only served as a residence for sultans but was also the center of the Ottoman Empire's administration. You will learn why it is unlike any other palace in the world, how the inhabitants lived, and what treasures are kept in its pavilions. You will also have the opportunity to taste authentic Ottoman sherbet!
- Hagia Sophia Mosque, whose 1500-year-old walls hold many stories. You will admire the luxurious decoration and learn about the fate of this extraordinary cathedral.
- Blue Mosque on Sultanahmet Square is currently closed for restoration, but we will appreciate its beautiful facade and discuss how unusual obelisks ended up in Constantinople.
- Hagia Irene - one of the oldest temples of Constantinople: here you will hear about the origin of the concept of the Holy Spirit.
Organizational Details
- Visits to museums are included in the tour. Tickets to them are purchased separately.
- Since we visit mosques, women will need to have a scarf with them, and clothing should cover the legs and shoulders.
