What to expect
Back to the past
I love Aix-en-Provence for its unique atmosphere. I love sitting in a cafe, enjoying the bustling market, and imagining myself in an antique dress and hat, walking through narrow streets 400 years ago. I want to convey this feeling to you. Our walk will allow you to soak up the spirit of this wonderful ancient city. And perhaps you will want to come back here.
In the heart of the city
Our route will pass through the historical center, where many attractions are concentrated. We will visit the church where the famous politician and womanizer Honoré de Mirabeau was married, the Cathedral built in different architectural epochs. We will see the 16th century Town Hall with unusual clocks, the Tapestry Museum and the Granet Museum, the house of Paul Cézanne's family and the cafe where he liked to visit. I will show you where the future political elite of France is being groomed, as well as benches and a market where you can buy local products, sweets, and souvenirs.
You will learn:
- who founded this beautiful town and who shaped its history;
- which famous artists lived here and sought inspiration;
- where the town got its name and what was located here before its appearance;
- what sets Aix-en-Provence apart from the current capital of Provence, Marseille;
- why many aspire to settle here;
- and much more!
