About this experience
In this tour, we have found a balance between urban landscapes, man-made creations, and the beauty of nature. We will drive through the clouds along mountain serpentine roads, visit the Botanical Garden, try the legendary Ceylon tea. You will visit a temple in the city of Kandy, housing the Buddhist religion, explore the Swiss-style region of Lanka. Additionally, you will climb the tower of the Temple of all Religions!
What to expect
This will be a rich trip; everywhere we will be accompanied by stunning landscapes of Sri Lanka, as well as stories about the history and culture of these places..
Highlights of the first day:
- Kandy city and the Temple of the Tooth Relic—you will visit the cultural capital and the last bastion of resistance to colonizers, learn about the city's past. Also, you will explore the most popular temple on the island, where the relic of Buddha's tooth is kept.
- 700-year-old Royal Botanic Gardens—one of the world's largest; here you will find many species of orchids, spices, medicinal plants, palms, and bamboos.
- Elephant orphanage and paper factory from elephant dung—you will be able to watch elephants bathing and even take a ride on these cute animals.
Highlights of the second day:
- Tea plantations, tea factory, and tea tasting: you will see how tea is harvested, learn about the secrets of this drink, and during the tea ceremony, you will be able to understand the difference between different varieties—and why, according to the English, who founded the tea industry, the best tea in the world grows in these regions.
- Ambuluwawa, Temple of all Religions, whose whimsical spire towers on top of the mountain—you will be able to take dizzying photos here!
- Ramboda Waterfall over a hundred meters high—another picturesque spot on our route.
- Nuwara Eliya—a highland resort surrounded by tea plantations. You will stroll through the park, enjoy the local landscapes, and if desired, you can take a boat ride on the lake.
The itinerary may vary depending on the starting and end points (for example, if the tour needs to end at the airport) or based on the traveler's preferences.
