About this experience
Sri Lanka is a beautiful and rich in landmarks country. We have prepared a route that reveals its fantastic diversity. You will meet local elephants, climb the rock fortress of Sigiriya, and stroll through the Royal Botanic Gardens. You will decipher the architecture of the Dambulla cave temple and explore the city of Kandy!
What to expect
Day One. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and Dambulla Temple
We will meet you at Bandaranaike International Airport and head to the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, established in 1975 for animal rescue. You will see how elephants live and hear interesting facts about them. In the afternoon, visit one of the country's 'postcards' – the Dambulla cave temple, carved in a rock in the 1st century BC. Admire the numerous Buddha statues and ancient patterns.
Day Two. Kandy and Sigiriya Rock
You will climb the steps to the ancient mountain fortress of Sigiriya. Enjoy fantastic views of the surroundings and explore the palace with amazing frescoes at the top. Next, we will visit a Batik factory and the Spice Garden, where medicinal herbs grow. The day will end in Kandy – the religious capital of the country. You will visit the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic of Buddha and stroll around the picturesque artificial lake in the city center.
Day Three. Royal Botanic Gardens
Sri Lanka, as an Asian country, is characterized by chaos, ubiquitous merchants, and tuk-tuks. But there is a place on the island where you will forget about the hustle and bustle! This is the Peradeniya Botanical Garden – an oasis of peace, beauty, and incredible plants from around the world. You will walk along well-groomed alleys, inhaling charming floral scents, and see countless exotic trees.
