About this experience
Our walk can easily be classified as a fitness program: we will definitely meet the daily step quota. But this is about quantity. And what about quality - after these 10000 steps, you will be transported to the world of Amir Timur and discover the European Samarkand or the Southern Petersburg. You will visit the neighborhood community 'mahalla', where Uzbek traditions and customs are preserved. And of course, you will immerse yourself in the rhythm of the bustling Eastern bazaar, where you will test your bargaining skills - because otherwise it won't work: people will get offended!
What to Expect
Mind and Body Benefit Walk
Our lively journey includes different quarters and epochs of Samarkand: we will walk from Abramovskiy (University) Boulevard to the mausoleum of Amir Timur. In half a day, you will visit the city's iconic monuments, explore authentic corners, feel the tastes and aromas of the East, and learn how the locals live.
European Samarkand
I will introduce you to the architectural structures of the pre-revolutionary period - here you will discover a piece of St. Petersburg: see the construction of the Russo-Chinese Bank, the women's gymnasium-seminary, and walk along a beautiful alley of centuries-old chinars. Along the way, I will tell you about the past of each building and the fates of their owners.
Enchanting Samarkand of the Middle Ages and Eastern Flair
- You will hear who and how erected the monument to the great commander Tamerlane, next to which you can take photos. And at the mausoleum of Sahibkiran, you will uncover the secrets of the Gur-Emir complex, which served as a prototype for the Taj Mahal.
- To feel the vibrant atmosphere of the Middle Ages, we will not only focus on architectural monuments. Ahead of us is a visit to a real mahalla, where time flows tens of times slower and you can touch the authentic life of Samarkand residents.
- In the heart of Samarkand, we will explore the Registan ensemble, mesmerizing with its beauty! I will tell you about the center of science of the entire Maverannahr and prestigious educational institutions where great mudarris taught.
- Walking along the caravan road, from which one of the minor branches of the Silk Road passed, we will find ourselves in the most grandiose Bibi-Khanym Mosque, enveloped in various legends and tales.
- The bustling bazaar will entice you with the aromas of fruits and spices, and local traders - a traditional pastime of the Eastern world. Are you ready to test your bargaining skills?
- The culmination of the walk will be the Shah-i-Zinda complex, where you will count the steps and make the most cherished wishes!
