About this experience
The War Room is a place where Winston Churchill and the British government worked during World War II. The facility was located near the Parliament building, but was secret and most Londoners were unaware of its existence until 1984. On the tour, you will follow in the footsteps of one of the most outstanding statesmen of the 20th century and experience the atmosphere of wartime.
What to expect
The respect, sympathy, and gratitude for the politician's steadfastness and refusal to negotiate peace with Hitler before and during World War II are evident: in 2002, Churchill was named the greatest Briton of all time according to a nationwide BBC poll.
Descending a narrow staircase into the basement of the secret bomb shelter, you will visit the command center and map room, see Churchill's bedroom and dining room. Along the way, we will talk about the lives of ordinary people who lived and worked in the underground complex.
Also included is a visit to the Churchill Museum, where I will tell you about his childhood, hobbies, and family life. You will see his childhood toys and extracts from his school journals about young Winston's behavior; letters he wrote to his parents from boarding school; the famous siren suit; paintings painted by the Prime Minister's own hand; the red dispatch box, and much more.
If you come with children. All my tours involving children are held in an interactive format: I constantly communicate with the kids, ask them questions, and give them the opportunity to express their opinions. This makes the child not just a listener, but an active participant in the experience and helps them better absorb and remember the material.
