West Coast Expedition: African Santorini and 18th Century Farm Stay (all-inclusive)
About this experience
This is not just a tourist attraction - it is a meticulously crafted immersion into the life of the South African West Coast. We will swim in a lagoon and observe zebras. Get to know the daily life of a fishing village where the best lobsters are cooked. And most importantly - enjoy wine at sunset, dine, and spend the night at an 18th-century farm in the company of the traditional Boer Julian, whose ancestors built this house.
What to Expect
SA Lagoon & Wildlife On the way to the farm, we will stop at a national park: here you can swim in a blue lagoon and, if you're lucky, observe zebras, antelopes, tortoises, and even flamingos.
African Santorini & Lobsters! Next, we will visit the historical fishing village of Paternoster, more reminiscent of a Greek island than South Africa. Our goal here is to walk among the white houses, explore the colored community and taste lobsters according to my friend Duane's signature recipe.
Julian's Farm And here comes the main part of the program - a farm of a traditional Boer (Afrikaner) with Dutch roots. We will delve into the history of South Africa: the English and Boers - why did they fight and how did they reach an agreement? Julian himself will tell us about it (with the help of a guide for translation) and show us his farm, built by his distant ancestors in the 18th century. It's so atmospheric here that even Netflix sometimes films episodes for movies and series.
Sunset By sunset, Julian will take us in a trailer pulled by a tractor :) In a picturesque location, he will set the table, treat us to local wine and snacks.
Colonial-style Dinner And now get ready! A colonial hall from the 18th century, where Nelson Mandela and other important figures once dined. Following an old tradition with a bell ring, Julian calls the servants and we are served a set of 4 traditional dishes. Amazing.
Night in Another Era The rooms at the farm are done in colonial style, filled with authentic antiques: everything to transport us 300 years back.
Breakfast & Return After breakfast, those interested can go horseback riding, feed newborn lambs, and experience other delights of farm life. And then - back to Cape Town.
