About this experience
Exploring the main sights and wandering through authentic streets, you will learn how a century ago the ancient village became a city and what role the beloved day of the week played in its history. We will listen and sing together Pamiri song in the Museum of Musical Instruments. We will bargain at the Eastern bazaar. And in a teahouse over a cup of fragrant tea, we will talk about the history and culture of Tajikistan.
What to expect
The program is designed for half a day and covers the most interesting and important places in Dushanbe. We will mainly walk, but sometimes use public transport.
- You will visit the main square and see the 40-meter monument to Ismail Samani, where we will talk about the highly revered historical figure. You will learn about the ruler who laid the foundation of Tajik statehood. And you will hear about the Samanid dynasty, which spread Islam in Central Asia, and the golden age of Eastern science, art, and trade.
- We will show you one of the tallest flagpoles in the world, proudly flying the country's flag, and take you to Independence Park with a majestic monument erected in honor of gaining sovereignty in 1991.
- We will definitely visit the Museum of Musical Instruments of Gurminzha Zavkibekov, where a unique collection of ancient traditional instruments from not only Tajikistan but the entire region is presented.
- And of course, the bazaar! Behind the rainbow of spices and fruits, the treasure trove of nuts, and, most importantly, the excitement of Eastern trade, we will not go to an ordinary market, but to the Mehrchon itself - its facades will surely amaze you. You can and should taste everything you desire. And you will be able to have a full lunch in a place with authentic national cuisine, where the locals eat.
