About this experience
Potsdam is a beautiful historic city near Berlin. It is known for its magnificent palaces, parks, and gardens. Also, the Russian village Alexandrowka and the Dutch Quarter. You will see it all! I will tell you how Potsdam developed, how the Prussian kings spent their time there, and share the legends and interesting stories associated with the city.
What to expect
You will see Sanssouci Palace - the beloved residence of Prussian King Frederick the Great. Walk through the park to the New Palace, take a photo at the Chinese teahouse, and admire the royal vineyards. Visit the Russian village Alexandrowka, see the Old Market square where the city's history began, and stroll through the largest Dutch Quarter outside the Netherlands. Along the way, I will tell you:
- Why Sanssouci is called the Prussian Versailles;
- What amazing stories happened to the Prussian kings;
- How the Russian and Dutch colonies appeared in Potsdam;
- Where the Potsdam Conference of 1945 took place;
- What life was like in Potsdam during the GDR era and where the secret military town was located.
Additionally, I will recommend cafes with delightful desserts and places with the most delicious beer in the city.
