About this experience
They say that without visiting Novi Sad, you have not seen Serbia. The city is also considered the most beautiful in the country— either way, both claims are worth checking. Accompanied by stories and legends, you will explore interesting and significant urban structures. You will also visit an impregnable fortress, be charmed by the landscapes of Vojvodina, and visit the country's most popular monastery.
What to Expect
Youthful Novi Sad
The city of students and theaters, different cultures and confessions— Novi Sad has absorbed diverse characteristics but managed to maintain a spirit of unity and became the cultural capital of Europe 2021! You will stroll through Freedom Square, visit the Cathedral of Virgin Mary to admire colorful stained glass windows and a carved altar made of Tyrolean wood. Walking along pedestrian street Zmaj Jovina, you will appreciate the beautiful buildings of Novi Sad. And I will tell you stories about the city's origin and share curious facts about its modern life.
Petrovaradin Fortress
A fortress built for almost 100 years, which no one could conquer: 112 hectares of land and 16 km of underground tunnels. You will explore its territory and learn how the construction of the fortress is related to the emergence of Novi Sad. While walking on its upper part, you will be amazed by the strength of the fortress walls, and the panorama of the city and the Danube landscape will be a delightful addition to the historical part of the walk.
Lovely Sremski Karlovci
We will visit several wineries in this city. You will taste a unique wine that was on the Titanic's wine list and try to uncover its secret. You will learn who divided the whole of Europe between East and West here in the 17th century and how it changed the landscape of the entire region. You will see the house where Baron Wrangel lived, which became the headquarters of the White Guard movement. And you will also hug the oldest plane tree in Europe and admire the largest Serbian Orthodox Church of the 18th century.
Fruska Gora Monastery
The holy mountain of Serbia, in whose monasteries during the Ottoman yoke, literacy, culture, and faith were preserved. Here, Russian nuns, fleeing the revolution, revived female monasticism. The holy place of Nova Hopovo, which you will see, was visited by King of Serbia— Alexander I. I will share the history of the reserved area and take you to the most visited monastery in Serbia. And a pleasant bonus will be lunch at the picturesque winery with a tasting of traditional Serbian dishes in a modern style.
