About this experience
Our museum-home is a story of how a passion for early Middle Ages became a way of life. On our island of Kattegat, you will be transported back to the era of Vikings: see the imposing drakkar and colorful artifacts, experience the lifestyle and beliefs of ancient people. And you will leave us with warmth in your heart and an experience that will allow you to look at life in the metropolis differently.
A Living Portal to the Middle Ages
The drakkar for us is not just an authentic space, but a beloved home where our family recreates the life of the harsh Vikings every day—brave, tough, and unafraid of difficulties. By touching this life, city dwellers invariably reboot and relax from the hustle and bustle of civilization.
What to Expect
9th-century Viking Drakkar, which I built myself. You will learn about the structure of the most fearsome ship of the early Middle Ages, and inside you will find many artifacts left by the Norsemen: Viking weapons, armor, and everyday items (everything can be touched, tried on, photographed).
Animal Yard. On our territory, adults and children can interact with domestic animals: deer, sheep, goats, ducks, chickens. And about 20 different breeds of dogs—each with its own story, which we will definitely share with you.
Bond's Homestead (peasant). How families lived over a thousand years ago, what animals they kept and why, how austere and tough medieval everyday life was. You will also learn how sheep were connected to ships.
Ancient Gods Location. Here we will talk about the worldview of a person of that era: what he believed in, how he lived by what laws, and why the Norsemen became Vikings.
After the expedition to the Middle Ages, you can have lunch prepared over a fire from products from our farm.
