You will also enjoy a light and music show and admire ancient mosaics in the underground gallery of Rumeli Han.
What to Expect
Basilica Cistern. An ancient water reservoir resembling a palace complex. It was once the main water source for the city center. Decode the symbolism of the Column of Tears, toss a coin into the Fountain of Wishes, and gaze into the scary stone eyes of the Medusa gorgon.
Philoxenos Cistern. The second largest underground water reservoir in the city. Learn for whom it was built, its connection to silk threads, and in which movies it appeared.
Theodosius Cistern. Another important part of Constantinople's water supply system. Here, you will see the light and music show "Water Civilization of Istanbul."
Rumeli Han. This underground gallery from the late 19th century was discovered recently. Walk through ancient tunnels, see historical mosaics, and peepholes offering views of the city streets.
