About this experience
While traveling to countries where European civilization originated, you are probably interested in Ancient Greece, Ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, and Byzantium. But knowledge is never too much! In Istanbul, a treasure trove of artifacts, you will not only see traces of different eras, but also understand how they have influenced modern world culture.
What to Expect
The first part of the tour will introduce you to the main artifacts of the Archaeological Museum of Istanbul. Here you will:
- Listen to the legends of the Celts and myths of the ancient Greeks
- See the first scroll with love poems and the Kadesh Treaty - the world's first peace treaty
- Unveil the secrets of the tomb of Alexander the Great and ancient Egyptian sarcophagi
- Get an idea of ancient Greek temples and examine statues of ancient gods
- And learn much more!
We will then proceed to the Byzantine Basilica Cistern. The Medusa Gorgon and masterpiece columns will astonish you with their majestic beauty, while we will explain the purpose of this huge water reservoir and the secrets associated with it.
