About this experience
Join me on a fascinating journey through one of the most famous galleries in Europe - the Uffizi. You will not only see world-renowned paintings, but also learn about love in all its aspects. I will talk about the concepts of love, beauty, and harmony of spirit and body. You will understand how Rubens' paintings combine the ideal and sensuality, and what Caravaggio and Dostoevsky have in common.
What to Expect
You will get acquainted with the concept of love and its representations in classical art and myths. I will also talk about the concepts of beauty and sensuality and their philosophical connections developed during the Renaissance, where creative inspiration in harmony of spirit and body became the ideal of love.
During the tour you will:
- See the symbiosis of love in works by Piero della Francesca, Filippo Lippi, Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, and Michelangelo
- Experience through Botticelli's paintings how love can guide us from contemplating the beauty of the physical and mortal to the beauty of the eternal and celestial
- Be impressed by the combinations of physicality and ideal in Rubens' paintings, love for antiquity and innovation in Titian's work with light, personal drama and violence in Artemisia Gentileschi's art
- In Caravaggio's works, you will see the same humanism as in Dostoevsky with his love for the humiliated and insulted
