What to Expect
Day 1: Ghost Town and Baby Taj Mahal
The road from Delhi to the first location will take about 4 hours (270 km). You may have never heard of this place, but it is on the UNESCO list! This is Fatehpur Sikri - an abandoned city. It was built in the late 16th century in honor of the Sufi Salim Chishti, who brought a child to the emperor Akbar by his prayers. You will learn why the residents abandoned the city just 4 years after its completion and how it became a haunt of ghosts and spirits.
Our next stop is the Baby Taj Mahal. This white marble tomb was built in the mid-17th century. There is a version that it became a prototype for the Taj Mahal, built by Shah Jahan.
Day 2: Taj Mahal and Red Fort
The next day you will have a sightseeing tour of Agra. Visit the Taj Mahal - a testament to the romantic love of Shah Jahan for his beautiful wife Mumtaz Mahal. Located on the banks of the Yamuna River, the Taj Mahal is a masterpiece of architecture and advanced finishing techniques. Then we will visit a marble factory. You will witness the work of craftsmen from the same family who participated in the construction of the Taj Mahal.
End the day by exploring the Red Fort - a fortress residence of rulers during the Great Mughal Empire. The red sandstone walls stretch for 2.5 km! We will walk around the area, explore the exquisite palaces, mosques, and gardens.
