What to Expect
Rich Culinary Heritage
Turkish cuisine traces its roots back to the ancient past and combines the culinary art of all the peoples with whom the Turks interacted over the centuries: the authentic nomadic cuisine of Turkic tribes, Persian, Arab, Mediterranean, Armenian cuisines, etc.
I will tell you the history of Turkish cuisine and show its modernity. For example, you will learn how the cuisine of the Sufi order of whirling dervishes was treated, what was eaten at the courts of the Ottoman sultans, how products from the American continent entered Turkish cuisine, and much more.
It's not easy to assess all the richness of Turkish cuisine in one go, so I suggest you get acquainted with certain culinary delicacies and visit:
- A restaurant where you can try various types of kebabs: Adana kebab, Urfa kebab, Beyti kebab, eggplant kebab, and the amazing liver kebab (ciğer kebab), skewered on skewers on clay plates filled with hot coals. We will wash it all down with the freshest ayran, and you will also be able to try specialties of southeastern Turkey: the drink şalgam, the appetizer Antep ezmesi, and the dish alinazik;
- A restaurant in the city center, in an orange garden. Here they serve dishes from various regions of Turkey, as well as local Alanya dishes: the best pide in town (flatbreads with cheese, meat, and vegetables), various types of sarma (stuffed grape leaves and cabbage rolls), dolma (stuffed peppers, zucchini, and eggplants), tatarurlu - fried eggplants and other vegetables in a nut sauce, pilafs, vegetable dishes, and the unique dish of the region - the soup 'gülyukly çorbası'. In this restaurant, there is a daily menu, which means everything is prepared from the freshest products purchased in the morning. At the end of the tasting, treat yourself to almond coffee, which is made only here.
Turkish dining has its own specifics - restaurants often specialize in one or two dishes, so if you want to try some specific flavors, write to me, and we will discuss our restaurant route.
Come, try, immerse yourself in an atmosphere of leisurely enjoyment of tastes, smells, interesting stories, and pleasant conversations, in which the locals know a thing or two!
