About this experience
Have you heard the singing dune? Low guttural singing, the sound of an organ, or the roar of an airplane - it's impossible to convey in words. It must be felt by standing on the crest of the dune surrounded by sandy expanses! We invite you on a trip to the Singing Dune, ancient steles, and a spring. Unforgettable natural locations and emotions of a lifetime await you!
What to Expect
Altyn-Emel National Park
The name of the reserve translates as 'Golden Saddle'. According to legend, Genghis Khan, while crossing the valley, saw mountains covered with yellow grass that reminded him of a golden saddle. In the park, you will enjoy endless monotonous panoramas. You will also encounter rare animals, including Przewalski's horses.
Singing Dune
It was formed as a result of the displacement of the Big Kalkan volcano and unique wind rose. The dune does not drift through the desert but has remained in place for millennia. Its sacredness is reflected in Paulo Coelho's novel 'Zahir'. The main character has a revelation right near the Singing Dune. Travelers want to believe that if they climb to the top of the dune, their dreams will come true. Check it out for yourself!
Oshaktas Stone Steles
It is authentically unknown who and when placed the three steles on the way to the Singing Dune. What was it? A signaling tower, a site for rituals, or a huge hearth for preparing meals for Genghis Khan's troops (yes! there is such a legend)? We can only guess and marvel at this construction.
Chokan Valikhanov Spring
Located 2 km from the Singing Dune, at the foot of the Kishi Kalkan mountain. It is named after the Kazakh scientist and traveler who made a dangerous expedition from Russia to Kashgaria through Altyn-Emel. Here, he rested and drank water from the spring.
