About this experience
In the magnificent 17th-century castle, the Prince of Galles (future King of England Edward VII), the famous writer Marcel Proust, and the world-renowned fairy tale author Charles Perrault stayed as guests. As you stroll through the chateau's halls, you will meet the characters of his fairy tales and learn a lot about the history of France – after all, the ancestors of the castle owners, the Bretet dynasty, served at the French kings' court for a long time.
What to Expect
A Walk through the Castle and Meeting its 'Inhabitants'
You will learn about the castle's centuries-old history, the unique charm of its halls, and admire the numerous figures of fairy-tale characters. You will meet Cinderella, visit Little Red Riding Hood, call on Sleeping Beauty, descend to the cellar with Tom Thumb, meet the princess in the donkey's skin, and, of course, be greeted by Puss in Boots.
The History of the Aristocratic Bretet Dynasty
I will tell you about the history of France during the reigns of the three Louis, about the role of the Bretet family in the country's life, about the behind-the-scenes games and intrigues of the Versailles court. Perhaps the most 'notorious' is known to many from Alexandre Dumas' novel 'The Queen's Necklace.' A part of this story is presented in one of the halls, where you will feel like you're stepping into the pages of a book.
