About this experience
What do you know about the creative mastermind of ‘The Blue Rider’ - Wassily Kandinsky? In the Munich museum, where the largest number of his paintings is exhibited, we will talk about the fate of the artist, his innovative views, and the directions in painting he worked in. With my assistance, you will immerse yourself in the creative world of Expressionists and Abstractionists, absorb their ideas, and understand the true value of their works.
What to Expect
Kandinsky and Munich
Many admirers of Kandinsky, art critics, and even the artist himself considered the Munich years the best period in his work. You will learn how Kandinsky ended up in the capital of Bavaria and how it inspired him to create the theory of non-objective painting embodied in unprecedented images. The artist believed that the goal of art is to refine the soul, and that colors can resonate. It was in Munich that Kandinsky's transition from Expressionism to Abstractionism was revealed, and his innovative views found resonance among German and Russian painters, giving rise to the ‘Blue Rider’ group, which Kandinsky led.
Art at the Lenbachhaus
The works of the members of the ‘Blue Rider’ group are more fully represented in the Lenbachhaus than anywhere else - in this sense, the museum is absolutely unique. The building housing the museum is a magnificent villa from the 19th century in the historicist style, once owned by the artist Franz von Lenbach. Today, several halls are dedicated to the collections of Lenbach himself (paintings, antiques) and the works of the artist of the second half of the 20th century, Joseph Beuys. During my tour, we will not only discuss painting itself but also how global and political events influenced people's destinies and why new art movements emerged in the early 20th century. A revolution in creativity, innovative ideas, brilliant discoveries in artistic theory - this is the visual world created by Expressionists that you will immerse yourself in.
