About this experience
On the sea coast of Northern Lazio, on a hill 132 meters high, lies the city of Tarquinia. From its observation platforms, you can enjoy amazing views of the natural hills and sea expanses. During the sightseeing tour, you will not only admire these views, but also get acquainted with the main attractions of the city and the key epochs of its history.
Program
The history of Tarquinia can be divided into several stages-epochs, which I will tell you about:
- Tarquinia in the times of the Etruscans.
- Tarquinia - the medieval city of Corneto.
- Tarquinia with the inclusion in the Italian Republic and up to the present day.
To switch a bit to the study of Roman history, it is worth visiting the National Museum of Etruscan Art, and to immerse yourself in the world of Etruscan immortality, the preserved Necropolises on the Montarozzi hill will help (visited optionally). The frescoes of these burials date back two and a half millennia and, like an open book, tell about the daily life, customs, and symbols of the Etruscan people. The Necropolises are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
During the walk around the city, we will see and visit the main attractions: the Vitelleschi Palace, the church of St. Francis, learn who Matilda di Canossa was, why there is a geometric eye pattern on the square, and what the female figure near the Etruscan museum is, see the most photographed fountain in the city, as well as numerous well-preserved towers, stand and admire the picturesque views from the belvedere platforms.

- The cost of the tour includes: meeting at the railway station and final escort back, city tour, museum escort, escort to the Necropolises (visit optional), car transfers.

Many thanks to Svetlana for the fascinating tour of Tarquinia. The city charmed us. Narrow streets, medieval temples, and breathtaking views! Svetlana knows the history well, and we listened with great interest about the Etruscans, the struggle for power, religion, and art. 6 hours flew by unnoticed...
