About this experience
Sremski Karlovci is a city unlike Belgrade and Novi Sad. It will be remembered by its ancient architecture, cozy atmosphere, wineries, and leisurely pace of life. I will show you all its main attractions: the Cathedral, the Chapel of Peace, the 'Four Lions' fountain, the Seminary, and others. I will share the history of the city and the peculiarities of its contemporary life.
What to expect
Walk through the center
The tour will start at Branko Radicevic Square, near the famous 'Four Lions' fountain. Then we will walk through almost the entire city center: see numerous ancient churches, the Patriarchate Court, and the Theological Seminary. You will also step into an 18th-century pharmacy, explore the Karlovci Gymnasium, and learn which foreign languages you can study there.
Chapel of Peace, wineries, and mesmerizing views
I will show you the Vranje monument and the important historical site - the Chapel of Peace. I will uncover for you why and for what event it was built, and why one of its entrances is filled with bricks. Along the way, you will admire ancient plane trees and chestnut trees. In the summer, you will climb to the panoramic platform and enjoy the views of the city from above. Moreover, Sremski Karlovci is famous for its wineries - at the end of the tour, we can visit one of them.
Logistical details
By request, we can take a hike with an ascent along a pedestrian serpentine to Fruska Gora. This will require an additional 3 hours and cover approximately 11 km.
