About this experience
What is the secret of Portuguese happiness? This is the question I asked myself when I moved to Portugal 1.5 years ago. I found the answer for myself, and now I share this 'secret' knowledge with my guests on soulful tours. I won't bore you with a huge amount of facts, names, dates, I'm more interested in immersing you in the atmosphere of Lisbon, helping you feel the special mood of the Portuguese capital and fall in love with this city.
What to expect
Our tour will proceed at a relaxed pace, and we can change the route as we go. During the walk, we will visit both iconic places of the capital and informal, 'live' corners of the city, try traditional Portuguese sweets, and enjoy the taste of ginjinha, cherry liqueur elevated in Portugal to the rank of cult.
We will visit the bohemian district of Chiado, the lively Bairro Alto, the noble Baixa, and the port Cais do Sodré. It is in these areas that the active social life is currently bubbling.
My story about Lisbon is a light excursion into the significant events of the city's life and its modern realities, stories about the culture and mentality of the Portuguese, as well as all the ins and outs, passwords, and life hacks that will help you spend your time in Portugal with pleasure and benefit. Among other things, you will learn:
- the connection between French bouillon and the liberators of Portugal;
- where the eighth 'forgotten' hill of Lisbon is located;
- how rum producers created the most visited museum in Lisbon;
- where they make the most delicious pastel de nata pastries;
- why coffee in Portugal is called 'bica';
- why waves made of cobblestones appeared in Rossio Square;
- what is currently shown in the building of the first cinema;
- how to drink ginjinha correctly;
- what is common between the Bank of Portugal and ancient Romans;
- when codfish, once considered food for the poor, turned into a noble product;
- and much more.
With me, you will quickly befriend Lisbon, fall in love with its rhythm and real life, and feel at home here.
