There is never too much of Istanbul - only too little. Have you visited the Majidiye Mosque by the water or Istanbul's Venice? Have you appreciated the pagoda-shaped house and Rumelihisar Fortress? Have you tried the huge baked potato or vodka-flavored ice cream? What about the ghosts from the red mansion? If the answers are 'no' and 'nothing' - it's time to explore the uncharted side of the Bosphorus.
What to Expect
Ortaköy and the First Bridge
Our journey will start in the Ortaköy district, near the famous beauty - Majidiye Mosque, reflecting in the waters of the Bosphorus. We will enjoy the amazing tranquility within it and head to Ortaköy Square, where you can find an Orthodox church, a mosque, and a synagogue. While strolling around the area, we will taste kumpir - a huge baked potato, or local waffles with various hearty fillings. We will admire the Esma Sultan Mansion by the water and discuss its unique architecture. We will walk under the first Bosphorus Bridge and make a secret wish.
Istanbul's Venice and Bebek
We will explore the original red pagoda-shaped building, reflecting the spirit of the famous Orient Express. We will visit the Arnavutköy district - an Albanian village called Istanbul's Venice. We will admire the wooden coastal houses, resembling colorful marshmallows, and taste the local ice cream, which even includes vodka flavors. We will bypass the cape and end up on the Bebek promenade - a prestigious area where homes of politicians, showbiz stars, and athletes stand, and their luxurious yachts and boats are moored at the piers.
Rumelihisar Fortress and the Second Bridge
We will admire the ancient coastal mansions on the opposite shore of the Bosphorus and head to the final point of our route - Rumelihisar Fortress. There you will learn how Sultan Fatih acquired the land for the citadel's construction, how long it took, and why the second Bosphorus Bridge is closed to pedestrians. And for dessert, I will tell you the eerie story of the red mansion with ghosts. Throughout the journey, we will make photo stops so you can capture the most picturesque locations.
