About this experience
This walk is dedicated to the Bosphorus - the artery of Istanbul, without which the city's history would have been completely different. You will cross the strait on a boat, enjoying the best views of Istanbul, stroll along the waterfronts of Kadikoy and Uskudar districts, listening to romantic legends and true tales associated with the Bosphorus. Additionally, you will appreciate the diverse architecture of the city's Asian side, try Turkish sweets, and visit a famous hammam. After the walk, the character of Istanbul and its daily life will become clearer, closer, and more vivid to you!
What to Expect
Observe Istanbul while crossing the Bosphorus
Meeting at the European side pier, we will cross the strait on a boat to the Asian Kadikoy district. During the 20-minute sea journey, you will observe the peninsula from the most impressive perspective, while I will tell you about a beautiful and romantic legend that gave the strait its name.
Kadikoy: Interfaith Coexistence and Local Residents' Lifestyle
Upon arrival, you will enjoy views of the Bosphorus opening into the Sea of Marmara and hear interesting stories related to the Kadikoy district. Then, we will walk along a street where people of different cultures and religions coexist, encounter temples of various confessions, and visit a church where the Fourth Ecumenical Council took place. Afterwards, we will taste delicacies at the famous Beyaz firin pastry shop and explore the Moda district: you will see what interests the city residents and how they spend their time, visit beautiful souvenir shops, and enjoy the views of the waterfront.
Uskudar Architecture and the Famous Hammam
In the historic Uskudar district, you will encounter the masterpiece of the great architect Sinan - a mosque built in honor of Suleiman the Magnificent’s daughter, admire the famous Maiden's Tower, and hear the legends associated with it. Next, we will visit the famous Turkish hammam, where you will not only feel like a local resident but also learn about the history of this place. Finally, we can taste balik ekmek - one of the traditional Turkish dishes.
