About this experience
Spider Palace, Fairy Houses, Frog Fountain... This is not fantasy from children's books, but a corner of the Eternal City created by architect Gino Coppede. He brought together mythical animals, galloping knights, stained glass windows, and Masonic symbols in one place. And we can enter this fairy tale - through an arch, a road illuminated by a huge chandelier. Admit it: this is not the Rome you expected!
What to Expect
Ambassadors' Palace and Masonic Chandelier
We will see the Ambassadors' Palace, where the first buyers of apartments were barons, marquises, and politicians. This modern housing with intercoms, elevators, and gas heating. Unheard-of luxury for the early 20th century! In the Coppede Quarter, we will enter through an arch adorned with carved figures, the meaning of which I will tell you about. On the arch's vault, we will notice a huge wrought-iron chandelier adorned with Masonic symbols, illuminating the road to the fairy tale.
Fantastic Menagerie
We will be greeted by the bright yellow Spider Palace, the Frog Fountain, and three Fairy Houses, each centimeter of which is adorned with magical details: colorful frescoes, figures of real and mythical animals, portraits of famous characters. We will understand what the fantastic menagerie on the facades means - each palace will tell its own amazing story.
Owl House and Stained Glass Windows
If you wish, we can continue the tour at Villa Torlonia: here is the Owl House, as if from the illustrations of children's books, the Stained Glass Museum, and the Moorish Orangery with exotic plants. We can end the walk at the Limonaia cafe, located in the shade of trees right on the villa, or go for ice cream at the famous Guttilla gelateria.
