About this experience
A walk along the Seine is perhaps the best way to take in the famous postcard views of Paris and its various historical epochs. We will walk from the Royal Palace to the Cathedral of Notre-Dame, admire the series of bridges spanning the river, and explore the magnificent architectural ensembles of the French capital. With each step, you will delve deeper into the city's past, intricately linked to its main water artery - the quays, islands, and granite embankments of the Seine.
What to expect
The Seine in the life and history of Paris
Beautiful Seine embankments are rightfully included in the UNESCO heritage list, but the river itself deserves no less attention. During the walk, we will talk about the role of the Seine in the life of the French capital, about river ports, about islands adorned with luxurious architectural ensembles, and about the "granite" attire of the embankments - a legacy of the royal era. You will imagine how products and building materials entered the city along the river on one side, and fierce Normans wishing to plunder Paris on the other. And then you will trace how the city center shifted from the island of Cité over the centuries and embraced both banks of the Seine.
Main attractions in one bottle
Along the Seine embankments are concentrated the most important architectural masterpieces of Paris, which we will encounter on our way. You will see the Royal Palace and its elegant gardens, the renowned French Comedy Theater, the tip of the Île de la Cité, the Paris City Hall, the old Conciergerie Palace, and one of the oldest squares in Paris - Place Dauphine. We will examine the former royal residence and the beautiful Saint-Jacques Tower, recall the legends of Notre-Dame Cathedral, and discuss why the Louvre architectural ensemble took 8 centuries to build.
As a result, you will cover the key locations of Paris connected by its main water artery - the Seine.
