About this experience
Rodin's genius is equated to Monet and Picasso. On my tour, you will understand why this is so. In a magnificent garden and 18th-century mansion, you will examine the master's works, while I will talk about his life and bohemian environment, his unconventional creative approach, and the peculiarities of his sculptures. I promise that in 2 hours you will significantly expand your knowledge of France and art.
What to expect
Life, creativity, and genius of Rodin
Auguste Rodin, born in Paris in 1840, is considered the father of modern sculpture. This is a creator who gained recognition and wealth during his lifetime. I will tell you about the sculptor's biography, his surroundings, teachers, and successors. You will discover Rodin's innovative vision and understand his contribution to world art. We will also remember the great French writers—Hugo, Balzac, Baudelaire—and Rodin's work on their portraits.
Biron mansion and a garden that is beautiful all year round
On the left bank of Paris, you will find yourself in an extraordinarily harmonious park where peonies bloom in May, hydrangeas in August, and roses almost year-round. While strolling, you will learn about three of Auguste Rodin's works installed in the garden. These include "The Thinker"—one of the most famous sculptures in the world; "The Gates of Hell," over which the master worked for almost his entire life; and "The Burghers of Calais," a sculpture telling the story of an episode from the Hundred Years' War.
We will then visit an elegant mansion, which in the early 19th century served as a "dormitory" for artists and other art figures—Rodin himself, Henri Matisse, Isadora Duncan, German poet Rilke. We will walk through 18 rooms where the creative path of Rodin is chronologically presented. We will also see his personal collection of masterpieces, including works by Van Gogh, Renoir, and Monet.
