About this experience
Works by Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, David, Delacroix, Monet, Cézanne, and other great masters will come to life before you in the largest museums of the French capital. I will help you navigate through the vast collections of the Louvre and Orsay, share insights on the most significant paintings and sculptures, and reveal some hidden treasures of the museums known to only a few visitors.
What to Expect
Louvre Masterpieces
We will start with the main treasures of the museum – you will admire paintings by Da Vinci (including the Mona Lisa), Greek sculptures of Venus de Milo and Winged Victory of Samothrace. Discover why these artworks became so famous and what other interesting things the rooms of the Louvre hold. Did you know that there are two Mona Lisas in the Louvre? Let's find the second one together!
You will also see furniture pieces from the 17th century crafted by the talented French master André-Charles Boulle for the Palace of Versailles; the invaluable collection of Sevres porcelain; and items that belonged to King Louis XV's mistress, Madame de Pompadour.
Orsay Masterpieces
In the afternoon, you will delve into the world of French art of the late 19th century. Learn about the life of the city during the era of impressionist exhibitions, official Parisian salons and salons of the rejected, World's Fairs, grand hotels, first shopping centers and restaurants, the construction of the Eiffel Tower, and the Champs-Élysées.
Enjoy the vivid landscapes of Claude Monet, mysterious still lifes of Cézanne, delicate ballerinas of Degas, and imposing cabaret dancers of Toulouse-Lautrec.
The tour can be adapted to your interests and preferences.
Organizational Details
- Entrance tickets to the museums are not included in the tour price: Louvre - €17, Orsay - €16
- The program is quite intensive, and we will be walking a lot. There are stairs at the Louvre. Comfortable footwear is recommended. Please notify in advance if you have difficulty with stairs.
- During the tour, I will provide headphones to ensure you can hear me well, as it might be a bit noisy in the main halls.
- I recommend starting the tour early in the morning at 08:45. This way, after the Louvre opens at 09:00, you will have the opportunity to see the Mona Lisa with much fewer crowds than later in the day.
