About this experience
"I can do it too!" and "I don't understand anything!" - these two exclamations are often heard in contemporary art museums. To understand its value, there is no better place than the Pompidou Center. In the inside-out building, you will navigate through the numerous -isms of the 20-21 centuries and learn to enjoy abstract paintings and intricate installations.
What to expect
Modern art from Matisse to Warhol
Pompidou journey starts with the Fauvist collection, united around Henri Matisse: you will see bright colors, exceeding the real colors of depicted objects, and understand the reason behind this technique. Examining Picasso's works, we will talk about Cubism and the technique that makes objects on paintings "move". You will also get acquainted with Dadaism and the works of Andy Warhol, one of which portrays actress Elizabeth Taylor with a Mona Lisa smile.
Scandalous works and Russians in Pompidou
Pompidou's exhibition is constantly being updated, and the funds are so vast that only 3% of paintings from the reserves are displayed in the halls. But we will definitely find Malevich's "Black Square" and Duchamp's "Fountain": I will explain why a painting that even a child can replicate and an ordinary urinal became works of art. Russian names will often be heard, as Pompidou houses many avant-garde paintings - here we can rightfully be proud of our artists.
We will "walk" through art from the early 20th century through Dadaism, Surrealism, and Pop Art to the present day, paying attention not only to painting, sculpture, and installations, but also to samples of industrial design. For example, the iMac, which Apple donated to the museum in 1999.
